Confidentiality & discretion assured. I see clients in a private office in my home in south Kitchener.

Individuals, couples, small adult groups welcome. Referrals available for those seeking counseling services for children and teens.

Sessions are 50-60 minutes, Monday-Thursday evenings. Extended sessions are available by special arrangement only.

  • Individuals: $100/hr
  • Couples: $125/hr
  • Intake sessions are 1/2 the standard session fee
  • Group fees negotiable

If you require being able to submit receipts for counselling to an employee benefit program for reimbursement, please check your benefits first to confirm your coverage — specifically, what services are covered, and to what annual maximum.  Some providers will accept marriage or individual counselling with CRPO registration or an AAMFT membership; some will only cover licensed psychology/psychiatry or services provided by a Registered Social Worker (RSW). If your package is limited to the latter, I am a supervised member of the Dalton Associates network under Dr. Dan Dalton (www.daltonassociates.ca); there is a separate billing and fee system we can access to allow you to use your benefits after the initial intake session.

Payment by cash or cheque only unless you are a Dalton network client, in which case you can also pay by credit card. Also, I require a minimum 24 hours’ notice for cancellations by phone or email, or you will be charged your full fee rate for the missed appointment. There is no cancellation fee applied if I must cancel the appointment, or if the cancellation is weather-driven.

If you are an active or retired first-responder or Canadian Armed Forces personnel with proof of ID, the rate for individual sessions is $10/session for the first six sessions (including intake), $15/session for the next six, subject to review beyond the 12th session. Please don’t let money be a thing that stops you from seeking help if you need it.

Eligible individuals in the Milton or west-end GTA interested in the 1st Responder package can now also see my colleague, Susan Tarshis, on a similar arrangement (fees may vary): http://www.susantarshis.ca/

This Huffington Post article offers a nice description of the psychotherapy experience and what to expect on your first time in, whether it’s a complete crisis situation or a simpler tune-up to existing relationship or self-management tools.
